Celebration Sunday

Celebration Sunday is on May 20, 2018—the day after the Global 6K for Water.

It’s a day to both CELEBRATE and INVITE: celebrate the lives changed through the 6K with your congregation and community, and an opportunity to invite all participants (even non-church members) to church the next day.

How Does Celebration Sunday Work?

On the Global 6K race day—Saturday, May 19th—invite all your participants (even the non-church members) to church the next day. Celebrate your participants and what they were a part of, and then watch what God does! This is also a great opportunity to invite those from your church who didn't participate in the Global 6K the opportunity to sponsor a child. Whether you want to do a 5-minute announcement or focus the entire service, we've got you covered with all the resources that you will need.

We may be able to send someone from World Vision's staff to your Celebration Sunday to talk about the global impact of the event and child sponsorship. Let us know if you're interested when you register!

Host Site All-Stars

Apostolic Faith Church launched the 6K with excitement and a challenge. Their church launch included a stage announcement, a video, and a table in the lobby after service, which featured sign-up sheets and postcards to give to anyone who wanted more information or missed the announcement at the beginning of service. The launch also included a challenge from the Bishop of the church for members to beat him to the finish line! After the launch, Apostolic Faith Church (AFC) built in reminders before the message each Sunday, helping members to not only remember the upcoming event, but also to ask friends and family members to join in! The “AFC Fit” team grew to over 180 walkers and runners because of the leadership of Bishop Smith, who wasn’t afraid to go all-in for clean water!

Pastor Josh Ferreira from Gilroy Presbyterian launched the Global 6K at his church in 2015. Josh and his church went all-in with the Global 6K. They launched from the stage, reached out to their community, and even set up a discount code so the church could pay the registration fee for children. Josh’s church raised nearly $10,000 for clean water that year!
