50 Days for 5,000 Lives

Starting today, into the next 50 days, till September 30th, for every child that is sponsored, a generous donor will increase your impact right away. Because of World Vision's community development model, for every child that is sponsored around the globe, four other children benefit from your gift. But only in the next 50 days, with each sponsorship, we can also bring impact to one family, or FIVE people locally! This is only possible because a generous match donor has pledged up to $50,000 to provide critical supplies and lifesaving emergency kits to families affected by the outbreak of COVID-19.

Let's all join together to catalyze on this spirit led movement to maximize our impact for 5,000 children globally & families locally!

What is Child Sponsorship?

World Vision works alongside community members and leaders to address their unique needs and to help their community thrive. By sponsoring a child, you’re providing them with:

Clean Water & Sanitation This means access to safe water, training community members to maintain wells and water pumps, building latrines, and training community members to improve hygiene practices.

Education World Vision’s education projects include school fees, books, uniforms, classroom repairs, restored schools and training for teachers and parents provide a child with opportunities for the future.

Nutritious Food World Vision goes beyond food distribution by focusing on creating sustainable food supplies through agricultural programs and improved nutrition and training.

Health Care Your child sponsorship provides access to things like medical clinics, vaccinations, training in disease prevention and other health care programs.

Economic Development Microloans and business training enable families to build a better future for children.

Child Protection World Vision advocates for child rights and encourages children to speak up against abuse and injustice.

COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Family Emergency Kits

World Vision is supplying emergency kits to vulnerable families from 13 strategic locations throughout the U.S., including Seattle, New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles. School districts identify families that qualify for free or reduced-cost school meals, and churches host the distributions. Each kit includes nutritious food for a family of five for a week, as well as hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, first-aid antiseptic, paper products, and children’s games and school supplies.

As of May 12, World Vision’s U.S. Programs had distributed 8,100 Family Emergency Kits, providing enough food for more than 600,000 meals. Distributions were piloted in Washington state, but are now happening across the country.

In Brooklyn and in the Bronx, where many families don’t have cars, people lined up outside churches to receive supplies. In West Virginia, World Vision staff distributed the kits in a county where the nearest grocery store is an hour’s drive away.

World Vision has also distributed more than 187,000 items of personal protective equipment to medical partners and first responders. Supplies have gone to the Pacific Northwest; Houston, Texas; and the Navajo Nation, the nation’s largest Indian reservation, which includes parts of Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. Through a longstanding partner in Albany, Georgia, a small town in southwestern Georgia where COVID-19 has hit especially hard, World Vision supplied 5,000 N-95 masks to Phoebe Putney Hospital.

Read stories from one of the first relief distributions in Washington state, when volunteers from Lake Burien Presbyterian Church placed emergency kits into car trunks for families who drove through their parking lot to pick them up.

Luke 9:14-17

14 For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15 And they did so, and had them all sit down. 16 And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. 17 And they all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.
