2024 NYC Marathon Race Weekend Guide

Hello NYC Teammates!

We're finally here! I'm so pumped for you to join us very soon for the TCS New York City Marathon and an incredible weekend as we race through the five boroughs! Here is our official TWV Race Weekend Guide for runners and spectathletes during our special time together in NYC.
 


Friday, November 1st
Hotel Check-In & Meet Up

2:15 pm-4:30 pm: Team World Vision Check- In, Meet & Greet @ Times Square Church Annex | 1657 Broadway
4:30 pm: Walk to Central Park West for entry to Opening Ceremony 
5:00 pm: NYRR Opening Ceremony

Saturday, November 2nd
Shake-out Run, Expo, and Team Dinner

6:30 am: Optional shake-out run (Meet in the hotel lobby at 6:25 am)
9:00am: Walk to the Expo as a team (Meet at TWV table on 2nd floor lobby of hotel)
9:30am: TCS New York City Marathon Expo presented by New Balance, Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Halls 3B & 3E, 655 W. 34th Street, New York, NY

Walk back to hotel on your own. Have some lunch, check out a show & remember to rest your feet!

6:00 pm: Team Dinner (Location: Times Square Church Annex, 1657 Broadway, 2nd Floor, Room 201)
Come & get fellowship time with other TWV NYC Teammates, Race Day Inspiration, AND Race Day FUEL!

** Friends & family welcome!  Bring your jersey for an epic team photo after the team dinner!  You must RSVP so we have an accurate headcount. 

TEAM DINNER RSVP 

Sunday, November 3rd
Race Day

5:00 am-5:30 am: Breakfast on your own. Plan ahead and grab some breakfast foods at a nearby grocery the day before OR head to Europan Cafe for some hot food and coffee. (Europan Cafe is located next to the hotel at 672 8th Ave and open 24 hours). 
5:35 am: Meet on the second floor of the Westin. We'll walk outside to the bus together.
5:40 am: Leave the Westin Times Square for the start of the 2024 NYC Marathon. Our private TWV bus will transport the team to the White Hall Ferry Terminal for the Staten Island Ferry.
6:00 am: Team Rally (team photo, rally clap, and prayer) outside of the White Hall Ferry Terminal. Remember to wear your orange jersey!

NYC Marathon Runner Start Wave Times 
9:10 am: Wave 1 starts (check your corral timelines)
9:45 am: Wave 2 starts
10:20 am: Wave 3 starts
10:55 am: Wave 4 starts
11:30 am: Wave 5 starts
Upon Finish: Runners return on their own back to our hotel.

For Spectathletes:
8:30 am: Spectathletes depart from Westin (meet at TWV table on 2nd floor of hotel lobby).  Download the Spectathlete Guide and the NYC Marathon mobile app for tracking your runner!
9:30 am-1:00 pm: Official Cheer Station #1 at Mile 8, located at 4th Avenue and Atlantic Avenue, accessible via the Atlantic Avenue Barclays Center Station
1:00 pm-5:30 pm: From Cheer Station #1, some of our team will head to the Official Cheer Station #2 at 5th Ave & E. 90th St. 
After runners pass TWV cheer station #2, Spectathletes can cross to the West side of the Park to meet their runners if desired and then walk to the hotel for our finish party line at the Westin!


Monday, November 4th
Travel Day

Congrats on your NYC Marathon Run - please travel safely!

  • Hat/visor
  • Sunglasses
  • Gu, gels, and other running snacks
  • Warm toss-away clothes to wear before the race (You'll ditch them at the start line, and the NYC Marathon will donate the clothes.)
  • I.D.
  • Newspapers or small tarp and blanket to sit on at the beginning and throw away
  • Toilet paper for the start line area and on race course
  • Food for your start area wait

Airport instructions to Westin Times Square

From Newark (EWR) to Westin Times Square

Bus: Take the Newark Airport Express bus to the Port Authority Bus Station and walk three minutes to the hotel! Click here to pre-purchase your roundtrip bus tickets for $30.

Taxi: Estimated taxi fare is $95 

From LaGuardia (LGA) to Westin Times Square

Bus/Subway: Take the Q70-SBS bus ($2.75 via exact change or MetroCard) from the airport one stop past the airport to the Roosevelt Ave-Jackson Heights Subway Station. Transfer to the E subway toward World Trade Center. Go 7 stops and exit at 42nd St/Port Authority Bus Terminal Station. Walk one minute to the hotel!

Taxi: Estimated taxi fare is $40

From John F. Kennedy (JFK) to Westin Times Square

Train/Subway: Take the AirTrain JFK Red from the airport to Jamaica Station ($5 paid via MetroCard at Jamaica Station). Walk two minutes to the Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Station and transfer to the E subway toward World Trade Center. Go 11 stops and exit at 42nd St/Port Authority Bus Terminal Station. Walk one minute to the hotel!
