The people from Barmuja, Ethiopia now have clean water! Join me on the next project!
Update: The need is greater than I had realized. Thank you everyone for your donations so far! I am currently trying to raise money for a third water well!
I hope all is well with you! I wanted to share a big adventure for which I am training. On March 31, I will be a running the Arlington Marathon which is a 26.2 mile run through Arlington’s streets and parks. While the thought of my first marathon is a little overwhelming, my goal is to help some of the 50 million people around the world who do not have access to clean water.
In 2016, Tessema, an Ethiopian missionary friend, told my family how his entire community did not have clean water after the water pump broke. My family then decided to provide the funds necessary to repair the damaged pump (see picture).
After hearing about the radical transformation in the lives of kids who previously could not go to school since they had been walking for hours each day to fetch dirty water, I decided to run a marathon to raise money to drill a water well for a different community in Ethiopia that currently does not have clean water. Through World Vision’s water projects, I have committed to a goal of raising $26,200 that would fund this project.
These funds will bring clean water to decrease deadly diseases, and to liberate women and children from a life spent gathering dirty water. It restores health and opens the door to education, a promising future, and a full life—the kind of life God intends.
This is where you come in. I’d like to invite you to join me in my mission to provide the entire community with water, hope, and life. Will you visit my fundraising page and make a donation? While the need is great, no contribution is too small.
Jesus says, “I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink… Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25, NIV)
