2024 New York City Marathon

I'm running a marathon in 2024 with Team World Vision, and I'd love to partner with you in the process!

Here's my story...

I am joining World Vision to run my 17th marathon at the 2024 New York City Marathon.  Aside from crossing the finish line in November, my broader goal is to help raise awareness and support for the incredible work that World Vision is doing.

2024 marks the 20th year that my family has had the joy of sponsoring children through World Vision, and we especially appreciate the ways that this organization empowers communities toward self-sufficiency.  The beauty of World Vision's program is that it acts broadly and comprehensively in a region of the world while being rooted in a relational model that establishes a personal connection between an individual child and a sponsor.  We are currently sponsoring a child in Zambia, whose letters, photos, and updates allow us to learn about her community and to witness positive transformation firsthand.

World Vision's holistic approach has resonated deeply with us as a way to enact justice, as it considers the many factors that influence children's well-being within a system.

Their approach begins with bringing clean water to a community, extending crucial health care services to address preventable diseases, and offering food security initiatives.  As the organization works to open the doors of education, special attention is given to ensuring that girls and children with disabilities have access, while mobilizing child protection measures to safeguard the most vulnerable. World Vision is also committed to economic empowerment within the community, providing the skills and opportunities people need to create sustainable livelihoods.

These are real-time changes for kids that we have the ability to participate in, ones that offer dignity and hope.  I would love for you to experience the gift it is to connect with a child in a different part of the world and to be impacted by that relationship.

Please check out this World Vision sponsorship website to learn more as you consider engaging in child sponsorship. You'll find photos and descriptions of children in need, as well as information about their family and community.  If you have questions about World Vision's approach, I'd love to have a conversation with you.

I hope you'll step in to make a significant difference for a child, as I know you'll be changed by the experience!
