2024 New York City Marathon

Our family wanted to reach out to you and invite you on a journey. A journey as world changers, more like life-changersAs you may know we have been actively involved with clean water efforts in sub-Sahara Africa for the previous years and continue to raise awareness of the clean water crisis.

This year Erik will be training for the New York City and Kansas City Marathons while seeking out opportunities to continue to invite others into child sponsorship, more on that below.

Erik first joined Team World Vision in 2014 with the thought of running a marathon with friends was the goal. He was wrong; it was much more than running. Because He said Yes, our family was on a life-changing path, learning more about what Team World Vision does, who Team World Vision is, and how they operate only intensified our families desire to be more involved in the mission field.

In 2016, Erik was blessed with the opportunity to visited Ethiopia with World Vision and the water projects our Team World Vision Kansas City team were a part of.  Erik was able to bring back stories of numerous locations where clean water and sanitation has been improving the lives of thousands and allowing them to move from the existence of simply surviving to THRIVING.

Since 2016, Our family has been active in several global 6K’s, many 5 and 10k’s, as well as marathons. Erik and Genevieve together have completed about 15 5 and 10K’s while Hope and mom cheer them on as well as join in on the fun at the 6K walk/runs. With your help we have been able to raise over 50,000 dollars to date.

Here are some numbers to ponder:

  • 800 children under the age of 5 die daily from water-borne illnesses and poor health and sanitation practices.

  • 28.6M- the amount of people reached since 2016 with clean water

  • 20.8M- the amount of people reached with sanitation.

  • 34.6M-people reached with hygiene

  • $1.30/day, rather $39.00/month, is all it takes to join the journey.

It’s possible for you to be part of ending the global water crisis in our lifetime. We are asking YOU to come alongside us in reaching our goal of having 20 kids being sponsored. A goal which will assist in saving communities from being ill daily, weekly, or losing loved ones from treatable water borne illnesses. Please go to our fundraising site at www.teamworldvision.org/participant/Erik-Bayer or www.teamworldvision.org/participant/Bearsrun24

World Vision is life changing and making a difference in the communities that it serves.

Sincerely,

Erik, Jamie, Genevieve and Hope Bayer

Nearly 1,000 children under age 5 die every day from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and improper hygiene. But we believe the global water and sanitation crisis can be solved within our lifetimes.

$50 = clean water for 1 person

Will you invest in the future and provide clean water for 1, 2, 3, or even more people?
