THIS SPRING, CHANGE A LIFE. Join thousands of people across the globe in our mission to bring life-changing clean water and fullness of life to children in communities around the world.
Walk, run, or push a stroller with us at the World Vision Global 6K for Water on May 4, 2019. Each registration provides lasting clean water to a child, like the child on your race bib!
HERE IS A LITTLE BIT OF THE WIEUCA WALKS FOR WATER STORY
When the opportunity to sponsor a child through World Vision was presented at Wieuca I knew this was something I wanted to do! I was flooded with happy childhood memories of sponsoring a child and I knew this was something I wanted to do again. Even more importantly it was something I wanted my children to be involved in! What a great way to show my children how important it is to help others. This past Fall we had so much fun as a family putting together a small package of photos, fun items, and letters to send to Yesmaylin in the Dominican Republic. We love receiving letters from her and corresponding with her, typically via email. We have had such a great experience sponsoring Yesmaylin and we look forward to continuing to support her!

As a pastor, I received information, pleas for support, and prayer requests from a multitude of causes, programs, and opportunities that reach local and international missions. Why did World Vision catch my attention? Firstly, because it captured my heart. The two words that define the organization stirred something deep within me. A vision for the world – a strategy born of prayer and dedication – became very personal. Involvement in the ministry that changed lives of the most vulnerable encourages me to live a larger life. Sponsoring a child, leading our church in the Matthew 25 Challenge, serving in the advocacy initiatives, and meeting with fellow pastors has opened my eyes and soul to the adage: “Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary use words.”
I am truly excited that our church is participating in the Global 6K Run. It is a tremendous opportunity to gather congregation and community together to visibly demonstrate tangible concern for our world. Why 6k? Imagine the average distance people walk each day to get water and consider how easy it is to obtain plentiful, clean water whenever we wish. What if you had to walk 6 kilometers (a little more than 3.7 miles) for your water? Let’s do more than just raise awareness. Let’s allow our hearts to respond to the call of Jesus to make the kind of difference that would help the “least of these.”
