We are people of all different shapes and sizes. Most of us were not runners before we joined this team. Today we are a mighty movement in McHenry county changing the lives of children in Africa and around the world - and our lives are being changed in the process.
In 2023 the Algonquin Runners changed the lives of over 7839 children and familes through clean water. Clean water provides a fresh start line for health, education, and economic development in the undeveloped world and it's all done in the name of Jesus. We'd love to have you join us. WE WANT TO RUN WITH YOU! We know you can do this!
IF YOU LIVE IN THE MCHENRY COUNTY AREA and have never trained for a marathon before, you'll have a wonderful experience training with one of the largest marathon training teams in the county. We train from Algonquin and have terrific support throughout the season.
Team World Vision provides everything you need to cross the finish line: training plans, weekly email encouragement, fundraising guides, incentives, and an incredible group run and race weekend experience. Most importantly, we have each other. The Algonquin Runners has one of the best well supported group runs in the country.
In Africa, there is a saying: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." Join us and let's go farther together!

Training starts in April 2024!
In addition to the Run training program, the Algonquin Runners supports a run-walk training program. We will help you choose the right training program for you and there isn't a better team to do it with!
Women and girls are often the ones tasked with carrying water for a family. The water walk around the world averages 3.7 miles (6K) and the water is often dirty and contains parasites.
We are changing the story! Clean water not only brings health but hope and changed lives!
