2024 Mount Kilimanjaro

I'm climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with Team World Vision to help find sponsors for precious children in need.

Here's my story...

After taking on two Ironmans, ten marathons, and some half marathons too, it's time to take my Team World Vision story to new heights! I have been thinking about Mount Kilimanjaro since my great aunt and uncle - Doris and Occie - presented their slides from their family's time as missionaries in Tanzania. Since then, family, TWV teammates, and others have climbed the mountain and shared their story. I can't wait to experience this for myself!

On this journey, my goal is to get 150 children sponsored. At any given time in the school year, I teach about 150 kids each day (5 class x 30 kids in each class). I believe that every child should be in school instead of walking for water. Child sponsorship allows World Vision and the community to work together together to develop a plan, equipping them with resources to address their specific challenges—like improving water and sanitation, health and nutrition, education, child protection, and spiritual nurture. Every teacher in these communities deserves to have 150 kids in their classroom, just like I do!
